This can be also purchased from Kroger for $40 at a register without a car purchase.

I have it and it paid for itself in two months time. I usually end up with $1+ off every month and fill up two cars.

I've considered it. Glad to see it ends up being a money saver. I might end up doing it. Kroger tends to be the cheapest gas around for me.

In the past I used to see $5 off coupons printed out at the register to sign up for Fuel VIP.

Will this work when buying gift cards from Kroger or just groceries?

TrueCar is for suckers who have no negotiating skills. TrueCar was paid $399 by dealers for every converted prospect ("sale") last I knew and it is likely $25-100 more than that now. That money should be in YOUR pocket, not theirs.
