These are really wonderful, and work well. Have one and have been on the lookout for a deal. Normal price (as evidenced by other colors) is in the range of $5 - $7.

Only downside is this will discolor over time if you leave it on and use the cast iron in the oven (which Lodge notes it's not intended to be used that way).

Don't buy this if you have teenage boys in the house.
For context on this deal the price has been the same on amazon for the last 4 months. It was $0.38 higher on Amazon for the 8 months prior to that. These are prices and dates and not an interpretation of the deal. Thanks for posting OP.
Out of curiosity, if you have to use an oven mitt, doesn't that defeat the purpose?

From the item description:

The special silicone offers protection up to 450-degrees.
These go on and off pretty easily so you can just take it off when using the oven and put it back on to take the skillet out.

Yes--my wife does that all the time.

Caveats:

a) It'll be hot (so pulling out of the oven may require an oven mitt on top of the silicone handle)
b) It'll discolor (not a big deal, but something to know)

Recommended use is to take it off prior to putting in oven, and then slide it on again when you want to take the cookware out of the oven (but frankly that's too much of a hassle so we just leave it on).

It's safe to 450 degrees I think, so as long as you're not going above that temp you should be good.

Literally just bought it a couple weeks back for $7.98 at the grocery store, so I think it's a great deal. Helped a ton when cooking over the campfire.

He's saying it gets hot it you put it into the oven. When using it normally on the stove it doesn't need an oven mitt. It can get warm after being on a hot pan for a long time, but never burn worth, just warmer.

Same here, Bezos is on to us. It seems they set a limit on those for each account.

Since I have made the mistake of taking the cast iron pan out of the oven and putting it down, and then grabbing it again without a glove, I will be purchasing one. My hand thanks you very much.
