$189 RT Nonstop!!!!

Alaska Airlines have round trip airfares travelling between the California cities below to major Islands in Hawaii for $189, nonstop. These are Alaska's Saver Fares, a restricted-type fare. I checked Southwest and not seeing the same price. Because this is a competitive market, I do believe other major airlines will match. Using Expedia, my screenshot shows $189 SAN-OGG-SAN.

It all started with a comment trying to be helpful. I warned people that even if we can cancel up to 10 days from now, we won't know how aggressively coronavirus will spread by the travel dates in late April / early May.

Here's the problem. Coronavirus has been spreading like wildfire. How will you even know by 3/12 if you want to risk travel in late April or early May?

In Santa Clara County we have 9 confirmed cases (up from 4 just two days ago) and who knows how many unconfirmed carriers. We're in the heart of Silicon Valley with a ton of travelers coming through San Jose International Airport (SJC). When the infected start taking BART and Caltrain to San Francisco, sharing work elevators, and infecting all the medical practioners in the area, we're all pretty much f**ked.

Plus it looks like you only get a 12mo travel credit refunded. Not trying to be Dr. Doom here but if the spread goes full blown pandemic, are you really gonna wanna use that travel credit in the next year?

Me thinks not.

I think you, me, and everyone are just going to have to plan on getting Corona virus. There's really no way around that. Thankfully, unless you have a compromised immune system, there is a very good chance you will survive. That said, I don't think I'm in a hurry to get in a metal tube with 300+ other people at the moment.
I did have a Mexico Riviera cruise scheduled in early April, but my wife had a work issue come up where we had to cancel. I can't say I'm all that bummed now lol.

Yes, it's the end of the world. Just like when Zika, West Niles, SARS, MERS, swine flu, and Y2K hit. It's a wonder any of us are around today. Corona is like what, 2% fatality? 😱

I love that you cite a link to a graph that shows a handful of cases increase to 91,000 cases in 40 days. And that occurred in full lockdown of Wuhan.

So yes, apparently we do have a different idea of wildfire.

Let's see what the 1 case (as of last week) in the Bay Area turns to in 30 / 60 / 90 days.

And that 1 case in Korea Town in Los Angeles...
