Costco.com[costco.com] is offering $300 off the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 - 10th Gen Intel Core i5 - 2256 x 1504 Display - Windows 10 - Black for a total of $899.99. Free shipping. Valid through 4/5.
This or the Latitude 14 7400 2-in-1 8th-gen i7 256gb 16gb ram? I've been waiting on the Latitude order for weeks but it hasn't shipped yet. Latitude is 16gb of ram and 3 year warranty, but the 10th Gen CPU's are much better, especially on the GPU side. Dell offered me enough of a discount to bring the Latitude down to the same price point as this laptop.
Trying to decide between this and the XPS 13 7390. I like the 3:2 display on this one, but the XPS has generally better reviews. Also, this[microsoft.com] is a little scary.
Lots of laptop deals recently, I think it is in anticipation for when the new AMD ryzen 4000 laptops drop in about a week, the low end is a 6-core chip, with pretty good graphics, high end is an 8 core chip with almost gaming quality graphics built into the CPU, and they are low power, I would hold out a week. I'm definitely looking forward to the next iteration of the microsoft laptops since they have already started to use AMD chips
I've had this about a month and I love it. The 3:2 screen is great for productivity. My only complaint so far is 8gb of RAM is not really enough. Even browsers eat up a ton of memory these days.
I had it for 2 months now. No physical issues till now. Performance wise its very good with 8 GB ram and 10th gen core i5. Right now I'm running whatsapp desktop app, brave browser with 7 tabs and 2 vms in virtualbox and 4 putty terminals connecting to these 2 vms with python program running in one terminals for data processing and calculating stuff on over million entries. Laptop is quite and I don't see any lag due to memory pressure. I din't notice anything util I opened task manager to see how much memory I was using (5.9 GB). I think windows is doing a very good job of compressing programs in memory and fast ssd really help with page swapping .
I'm in need of a new laptop and I'm considering the Surface and MacBook. I've played with both and the ergonomics and feel are amazing. Just looking at the hardware under the hood, which is the most bang for your buck?

"bang for your buck" is not a phrase that applies to any Apple product, ever. lol.

I had 3 year warranty on my dell laptop and the battery warranty is only 1 year.

Id stay FAR away from Surface Laptop 3
Tons of issues, read the Subreddit on Reddit.com for more information
Dell XPS 13 isnt without it's own problems (loud fans, coil whine, heats up like a skillet) but this would probably be the only time you could definitely recommend a Dell over a competing product with confidence

When it's time to sell you'll get more back for the apple. Factor that into the equation too

That is scary as hell. I have a pro 6 atm but I love this laptop, but that issue makes a purchase a non starter. Maybe it's the aluminum one only though?

Good point. When I upgraded my hardware every few years, I found this to be the case. The initial cost was high but the savings over a decade justified it. My wife is exclusively Apple, but I use a mix of OS's.
