Joycons don't come off. It's better to get the normal version since there's a known problem with the joycons. They will wear down and move by themselves. If you buy the one where they come off, at least you can replace them.

I think the Lite is overall more comfortable and has a better display cause it's a bit smaller and sharper, but I've had the joycon drift issue twice already this year on my regular Switch and I can't begin to imagine how frustrating it would be to have to mail in an entire console because Nintendo couldnt be bothered to fix a wide spread issue on a new model. So, yea, if all you care about it portability and will never play on the TV, then a cheap Lite is a good deal, but pleeeaaase be warned when you do get that drift issue it's gonna suck.

I've tried both and the lite joysticks are better. My OG switch joycons are newer and have less use and they are already on the fritz
