If you don't need to activate service within the next 90 days, RP usually has very good sale prices in the vicinity of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Note that while some plans are available for all 4 major networks, some are only for AT&T and Sprint. Others may have less cellular data on Verizon.
As for the RedPocket, we have been using the ATT version for a couple of years. Every now and then, we experienced data throttling even though we are 2GB into 5GB in that month. It typically goes away by itself the next day. Generally happy with the service and recommended it our friends.

Under the sim options where you choose att, Verizon etc, I think there an option for refill. Then you just get an activation code and no new sim sent.
NO, it will not override the current plan u have with them, it extends the service by 360 days so you dont lose anything. (My case was i have plan of 5gb, and i buy the same plan for renewal. Had to enter the activation code 1 month before existing plan expire and thought i would lose that 1month. I didn't.)
