This is a decent price if you're partial to Intel chips... if you don't care, then the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 is faster overall for $85:

Tbf in most gaming benchmarks comparing the 2600 to the 9400f the latter is slightly faster. Since the 1600 AF is very close to the 2600 but a tiny bit slower it should lag behind the 9400 as well. At 120 dollars the 9400f is a pretty good buy if you want to stick with Intel. Where the AMD shines is with apps that support the extra threads.
the Ryzen 5 3600 would like a word with you... as would the 1600AF.

Really good price for a budget gaming cpu. I bought one from rak uten for $118 no tax during black friday and a z370 mobo open box from amazon warehouse for $48. Used rx 580 for $80 and some other good deals on psu, ram, ssd and built my wife a 1080p gaming PC under $350.

Probably the best performing CPU by the cost. It works really well with GTX1660ti in my build. I paid $120 during the BF.

it costs more too. And the i5-9400F still performs better in games

Take your AMD garbage elsewhere.
Thank GOD for people like you! You're the reason I can sell a system with a $30 4th gen i5 paired with a budget GPU for $400 - $450 as long as I stick it in a $50 case with RGB.

Keep on being the blind shill you are my friend, because it is helpful to people like me

That by cost statement entails other things besides raw gaming performance. The AMD offerings are unlocked and can be OC'd to perform on par in gaming and then in multithreaded applications it is no contest.

BTW I think this is a good deal and I am in fact going to pick up a couple for future builds since it'll take about another year or 2 for the average consumer to realize that buying AMD is a more than viable option and should in fact be the PREFERRED platform

Pretty good price for 6 cores at 4.1ghz. Just be sure to get adequate cooling.

Once you get the 2600 to 4.1 Ghz it's gaming performance is on par with that of the 9400f and then yeah, it kills it in every other multithreaded workload you can throw at it. And it sits around $120 all day every day, in fact you can get the 2600x for $100 all day every day at micro center.

No its not. Especially in gaming. Actual fake news. Some reason I doubt you've benched marked these yourself or even looked at benchmarks.

Inb4 but its faster in these random apps 99% of people don't use and when they don't they sure as hell aren't buying a $150 cpu.
