Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but with all of these "free delivery" offers from restaurants lately aren't we expected to pay at least a $5 tip to the driver even if it's just $10 worth of pizza? In the Chipotle thread, I read comments saying if there isn't a large pre-tip most drivers will just ignore the order or eat some of it in retaliation.

So on a $10 order, instead of paying $2.99 + 10% of $10 + $5 tip = $8.99 delivery we are just paying $5 (tip only) for delivery? That's not "free delivery" to me.

For places that are 1-2 miles away, do I want to pay a $5 tip or just go there myself to pick up (assuming the place hasn't been shut down)?

I've wondered this myself, I understand the need to support the restaurants, but at what cost? A 50% tip imo would be too much
