Will Verizon unlock after 60days automatically or do you have to put in a request?

Most of the time, no carrier will unlock phones automatically unless you request

Verizon 6s used to be factory unlocked. Did they change it? I don't mean like they changed the lingo on their site, but has anyone actually tried?

They had to seek permission from the FCC to do it again because they had a deal that required them to unlock out of the box. The reason they decided to lock phones again is because of phone trafficking - basically purchasing phones with stolen credit cards or outright stealing them and reselling them on the black market.

As if no one can buy unlocked phones anymore.. Lame excuse to screw customers.

I want to add details here . Please read before you buy the phone:

1. No need to buy service or any card at store. Only phone can be purchased.
2. It can be activated with Verizon Postpaid sim and Visible sim also.
3. When you activate the phone with Verizon Postpaid , it will get message saying that you need to activate phone with prepaid service, first . After that all call will be routed to customer service.
4. Same happened with me. I called customer service and give them some excuse to remove activation lock. Otherwise you will have to pay $30 to activate it and then you can use it with verizon postpaid without any issue.
5. I told I am WFH and cannot go out to repair my current phone , so please help. They removed the activation lock and I was able to use the phone.
6. My verizon lines are paid off and have money in credit , so I called customer service after 3 hours and told them I need to travel so please unlock my phone so I can use it overseas .
7. They unlocked the phone.

Good luck all ..who purchased it and want to get it unlock. It YMMV . Depend upon customer service rep you get.

Yeah, I get that with the newer models. I was just wondering if they went back to phone models that used to be manufacturer unlocked and started locking them. Used to, anything iPhone 8 or older was factory unlocked.

Wish this was posted sooner. We have Cricket and previously you could just pop the SIM in and go but not any longer. I had 2 that we returned for this price over a week ago
