They are San francisco-based tech company. I got the email because my company uses them to submit expense reports. I'm not on SNAP so I can't try it out to truly vouch for this program. But expensify is a well-established company.

I highly doubt they're just going to pay $50 to SNAP users. Data mining campaign? I imagine those who submit will receive either no response or "we're sorry, you don't qualify."

And you imagine a company is going to give millions in free money from their own resources "just because.." Which of us is delusional?

This was just announced on March 17. So it will take at least 5 days before people can confirm that the money has been deposited into their bank accounts. It does sound like a too-good-to-be-true situation, but it's worth noting that this offer is being presented by a well-established, US-based company with $38.2M in funding [crunchbase.com]. If there was something shady going on, they would be subject to the US legal system and they have assets that would make the proposition of a class-action tempting to any lawyer. This is also the same company that had that Super Bowl ad [skift.com] so they have some money to spend and a reputation they want to curate.

"Set up a bank account in Expensify to receive the reimbursed funds"

Proceed with caution and a lot of it.

This is not how debate works, you made the claim, you must substantiate it. I made no claims. But here you go:

Expensify has lots of money: ($17M in last venture round)
https://blogs.wsj.com/venturecapi...new-round/

Expensify has been in the top 100 apps, and has millions of users (so its a solid company):
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/exp...d471713959
https://play.google.com/store/app...g&hl=en_US
https://www.businesswire.com/news...-New-Users

Expensify isn't funding it directly, it comes from their business model of directing peoples donations to others:
https://www.expensify.org/hunger

Expensify has a 501c arm (so it works as a charity):
https://www.expensify.org/donate

Now, please cite a source that says they WILL NOT be paying, because I have sources that a multi-million dollar international company with a charitable arm says they will be paying. Your imagination doesn't count as a reputable source. So unless you have a source, I challenge you not to spread disinformation at a time when people will need such benefits.
