    Well, I don't need it but this sure looks nice. Especially if the handle will last a long time. Looks like there's maybe a included plastic lid for the top too, although I wonder how much that helps

    It appears to have a lid, it's visible in the picture of the taller mug and it's mentioned in the reviews. For hot drinks like coffee it makes a night and difference at retaining heat, cold drinks are less of an issue but it prevents splashing if your actually in motion.

    I've had these for a while. The lid is the same as a Tervis stainless steel tumbler. The mugs hold a good volume with shorter height that fits under a Keurig and good at keeping coffee hot. Since the lid isn't insulated, it is a key source of heat loss.

    I had this problem too. I think if you previously had a membership with that email, it keeps forcing you to add it. But with a new/different account that never had a Sam's membership, I was able to check out with the 10% surcharge.

    I have this mug. It does not quite have the insulation capability as my Thermos brand mug or my Zojirushi, but blows away my Contigo brand insulated mugs in terms of quality. My biggest complaint about this mug is that it is not dishwasher safe according to the cleaning instructions that came with it. The lid is a Tritan™ copolyester BPA-free clear lid with a rubber stopper. That may be where the heat retention is at its weakest. This is a good price for this mug. Orca coolers are made in the USA and are possibly one of the best coolers money can buy. After a lot of research, I chose the Orca over the Yeti, Otterbox, and other roto-molded cooler manufacturers. Orca makes very nice products.

    Edit: I just filled up my mug with water to test leakage. The flip top rubber stopper does not leak. There is a vent hole, however, that will leak slightly if turned upside down.
