It's more like final fantasy style sequel. They are separate mostly unrelated stories. Some even takes place and different times and parts of the US.

So you can play this without any knowledge of FO 3

Is this game like new vegas? I always got lost and didn't know what to do in that one so I never finished it.

there are parts in there where you can get lost as well, but having the arrow marker telling you which direction to go helps a lot. but if you still get frustrated, just type 'tcl' in the console and just beeline for the quest marker Smilie

i liked the story and dlcs of new vegas, but fo4 definitely improved on the game mechanics (in my opinion).

Nuka-World and Far Harbor are definitely worth the extra $5.61, especially Nuka-World. They each add hours to the game. The workshops are cool if you get into the building aspect of the game, but they don't add much if if that's not something you're interested in. Automatron is a fairly small addition, but provides a little bit of additional content. Overall, I'd pay the few bucks extra for it if you're wanting to play the game now or in the near future. If you don't have any plans to play it anytime soon, then might as well wait.

'Cleaning' your FO4 files is worth doing and makes the game run better, but is fiddly so search a tutorial. Vortex mod manager is great for updating and installing mods, also. But yeah, got the goty cheap a while back and it's been fun.

Got this and beaten it years ago. Darn if i forgotten the story. But I dump tons of extra hours just building my settlements. Probably 75% of my hours were just building. Laying down power putting up "walls" and defense.

Many of my settlement eventual become 4 story+ towers. Building part was addicting. How did I ever break out of that addiction?
