Also, the selection seems uninteresting, to say the least.
Agreed. This selection is abysmal. I was expecting Audible (Amazon) to give out free books in these hard times (with the monetary incentive of recruiting more long-term listeners). But these are weird garbage books, mostly.

You mean you don't want to listen to someone read the Mueller report out loud, or perhaps have someone read you Amazon product reviews?!

These were all free before; all they did was gather them together. The family listening streaming is far more generous and useful IMO.
I want to just say, Crackanory was hilarious, and I encourage everyone to listen. And I also would like to know if anyone can get through The Big Store. The narrator was brutal, and I'm very proud to say I had the mental strength of suffering through it, haha.
But my local library is now closed due to COVID-19
I'm in Suffolk County NY, and maybe 7 or so years back, I found this site that has access to our local library books online: https://www.livebrary.com/
As I haven't used up in it a while (a couple years), but used to often & it was great!
From what I remember, They only have a few digital copies of each book, that you could "check-out" (online), for a few weeks at a time each (& think there was a limit w/how many you could, at once).
I'm sure a LOT of libraries (prob most!) have a site like it! Just google your area/library. Bc I think THIS site might be specifically for my area. (Long Island, New York)
I thought it was for EVERYWHERE, then noticed up top it says something about my county...

The narrators are volunteers so quality varies.
