Good price on a saw that has many of the same features as the Dewalt DWE7491RS.I don't think you have to mark it YMMV though, It's on sale for this price not on clearance and pretty much every Lowes near me has one. Overall good deal on a feature rich portable saw.

Not too long ago was sub 300. Clearing old stock with hitachi logo. Not a bad price but I would still pay more for dewalt. Much better fence

Thank you for your feedback. There are a handful of stores near me which do not have it in stock. Rather than get TD and flamed from someone who lives near a store without stock... "YMMV" was the safe bet. Smilie

Interesting, I played with the fence on this one before I picked up the DWE7491RS ($375 thank you SD!) and the rack and pinon fences felt similar. It was a few months apart though so maybe I'm remembering it differently, out of curiosity why do you say it's worse than the Dewalt?

If I'm correct Hitachi had more plastic components to gears/fence and to me didn't lock at well as dewalt. However always could be slight variants with floor sample as far as assembly and usage.

I love this saw. A friend got it a year ago on sale for $300 or so. It cuts extremely well and your stock hugs the fence with little effort, even on the rough cut oak I was trimming.

I have a $200 Skill that I hate and always fight with, no comparison.

Same, I picked up the Hitachi version a couple years ago for ~$330 (think this was the thread). I use it infrequently, but it has been solid for my needs. The fence is easy to use once you figure it out, the blade is easy to adjust, and the T-slot miter gauge is really tight too. I just did some angled half depth cuts the other day w/ the stock blade and T-slot miter gauge and it worked like a champ. Next up, a Dado blade Smilie

I have the Hitachi version that I picked up a few years ago during Black Friday for $300. Overall it is a nice saw. A new blade is a must as the base blade does not cut the best. I put in a 40 tooth Diablo blade and it cuts great now. Now, the fence could be a little better as I have found some play in the mounting pieces as it attaches to the rack and pinion component.

This version of the saw does look to have an upgraded blade over what I received. My saw did not have a 40 tooth blade in the box. I think it was a 24 tooth blade.

Thanks for the comparison review link. The Hitachi definitely looks like the best bang for the buck.

7%? I'm seeing a discount of 35%. Yes, I can order online, but for in store pickup or truck delivery ($80 for my location). What store do you have selected on the website?
