I'm thinking about this for a 2nd drive in my laptop for Documents, photos, downloads but am out of the loop on these. If I don't hear many negatives i'll pull the trigger. Thanks

Good drive. You can also get it on WD's site, including at 1TB, with various promotions and CB available. However it might not be ideal for a laptop on battery, it has high idle power usage.
I have been out of the game for many years - last time I built a PC, the CPU was a Pentium 4 Northwood 2.4c. Holla! So sorry for the stupid question, but I'm buying a NUC that has an "M2" slot. Is this compatible with that?

Yes. Should be. I have a bean canyon NUC. but I would buy the black nvme from Western digital. it was on sale a day or two earlier for 5 more dollars.

That was a good intel CPU👍🏻. You have to look for MB specs, m.2 is also used for "regular" ssd drives (just instead of SATA it has m2 connector). Some MB also support both SATA and NVME protocol so if manual mentions NVME support you should be good. Also it's a good idea to get a heat sink for it since it will reduce operating temp and increase drive longevity.
Got myself one as a 3rd storage on my gaming pc. I have an SSD for the system, this one for the games I play the more often, and a 4GB mecanical HD for my game library. I should be set for now. I think... 🤔

Same question. Can I install it into my 2014 MB Pro?

No, Apple uses different form factor. You can buy new drives from OWC or Macmall.
