Not true at all. Staub is equally as popular as LC if not more. Staub is used in most professional kitchens. Further, nobodys personally insulting you because you don't know them. You made an assertion that everybody doesn't know them. Which is blatantly untrue. You cant use your experiences to generalize everyone elses.
You have no idea what you are talking about if you think Staub isn't just expensive because its made in france.

It's equal in quality to Le Creuset - these are the 2 most prized mainstream brands of cast iron. Just because you don't know their reputation doesn't mean others don't.
You get marginally better quality for the molding of the pot and lid, but mainly you are getting a higher quality enamel that is truly warrantied. Lodge does not honor warranties for their enamel in practice. Also better design in the weight to size ratio.

Good price for top-notch quality, easily comparable to Le Creuset. Some claim it's superior, but if there are differences, they're mostly academic.

I bought the 4qt for $99 and 7qt for $125 few months back. I think I got awesome deals for both but I feel like 4 is too small and 7 is too large for normal everyday stuff. 5 is probably perfect.

not finding this particular one on Staub's website. I'm wondering how it differs from the 5.5 round. I'm assuming it is a smaller diameter with taller sides but it would be nice to clarify.

Good price. 5QQT is small though. I would wait and look for a 6Qt (bare minimum) or 7QT on sale.

Great price, didn't even know they made a "tall cocotte." Looks a little weird to me (I'd rather have a wider surface for browning), so I'll pass. Thanks regardless OP.

So why is this worth the price?

My question as well---seems outrageously overpriced for a piece of cast iron.
It is. Great quality... but you can get 95% of the quality for far less.

Looks beautiful, but I'm still rocking my Tramontina porcelain cast iron set I got at Walmart for 12 years now :-/ Ugly compared to this, but, meh.
