One way to explain is that 791 is compact, fine for wood and metal drilling. For concrete, stucco drilling and hole saw, 996 is better as it's more powerful. Also it's safer to use, the 996 has the second hand handle preventing the drill from twisting your wrist when it's binded, for example, when hole saw catching a nail. 996 is of course heavier, longer, making it impractical for everyday use.
