My son has it and loves it. Fyi you need to buy books for it as it only comes with a sample book. Also, you need to connect it to the computer because books are not preloaded except for sample book.

2 cons:

1. Batteries. My son kills the batteries within 24 hours. Should have come with an internal rechargeable battery.
2. Somewhat fragile? A drop can make the screen malfunction. Had to return the first one because of a drop.

Conclusion:

It's worth the price but be prepared to buy many books and rechargeable AA batteries.

My son gets about 2 full days of use before we get the change batteries warning or it simply doesn't stay on. We swap out the batteries and save it for the cable remote. Xfinity's XR15 remote will say there is at least 50% juice left in them.

I found out it's hard to find the 3D books, especially now with delivery times are less certain

Both my son and daughter LOVED these when they were younger. I agree with the previous comment about the battery life. I eventually stripped a screw on one of them but it did get a ton of use. The other downside I found was memory. You need to install the information of each book you purchase from a computer via USB in order for them to work. I think I was able to fit around 6 books on each but it's been a while so I may be off by a digit or two.

However, both of these negatives were observed because my children enjoyed them so much. Was absolutely worth the purchase at full price.

3-7. Pre K to maybe 2nd grade. Has some easier stuff like shapes colors numbers letters, and then more advanced stuff like basic math, etc. I think there's some that are story oriented. I would think once they are 6-8 yrs old, they will want something more advanced like a tablet.

As a mac user, the latest version of the software has worked flawlessly for me. The older versions had some problems depending on what OS you were running.

I just replaced an earlier version Leapstart with the "Go" pen style version. It's a smaller firm with the same capabilities. The differences that stand out are a rechargeable battery, it feels less fragile, and the books are loose when used - which gives everything a smaller footprint.

Here's one priced similarly:
