Thanks for sharing! I decided to go with the 4 pack from Costco (1 router 3 access points) because of all the metal studs in the interior of my home (~2400ft2) and the connection issues that I have towards the extent of my property.

SlickDeals and Costco [costco.com] links for reference.

Not sure about this new version in particular but I have the previous version and it does. What's great is you can plug one directly to the ONT box from Fios and go from there. No need to rent the s****y equipment from them.

Can you explain your set up?

And what speeds you are getting?

Thanks

I have read that these routers have issues with security cameras that only uses the 2.4 GHz frequency because the router tries to optimize usage and camera ends up being unable to connect. Is that true? I have 6 Kuna security to lights around the house. Would hate to upgrade to this and have issues. Any input appreciated.

So Fios usually installs an ONT box (inside of a big gray box with a screw on the side that closes) in the basement where the line comes in. If you are NOT using cable boxes, just using Fios internet and maybe phone, you don't need a router from Verizon. You can open that gray box and find the ONT. There you can connect one of the google hubs directly to the one open ethernet port there. Now that hub will act as your router. The other hubs will now connect to that one creating a mesh network.

If you have cable boxes from Fios in your house, then you need the router from them. That router talks to the boxes so no way around that. So you just connect one hub to the ethernet port on the router instead of the ONT box and the others connect to that one.

I don't have any boxes, I cut the cord and just installed Fios 200 for $39.99. I then bought 2 Amazon Fire sticks and downloaded Hulu for live tv. I couldn't be happier. I'm actually getting speeds up to 300mb more.

I have nest cameras all over and I have the nest doorbell. I have a total of 23 items that connect to this mesh network. Some connect via 2.4 some 5GHz to to it. No issues at all.

Thank you!

Also you can control everything from the google wifi app. You can see what's connected, give priority to something and run test of the speed of your network. Even better you can talk or chat to a google wifi specialist and then can walk you through installs or help run diagnostics on your network.

Just in case anyone was wondering, no I don't work for google. I just really enjoy the product and have been using it for a while.

Hi Guys,

Having a question about the return in case I don't like this product , is there any restocking/shipping fees that google store would charge. I tried looking it up but due to COVID-19 limited support could not get exact answer.

Thanks!!!

I got the 3 pack last week and installed it the other day.
So far so good!
I'm currently sitting at my fire pit about 50 yards from my house and i still got 175 mb down on my 200 mb connection. My old router was down to 30 mb this far away. Good enough for me
