You can still upgrade for Free from Microsoft from any licensed version of Windows 7 or 8 to 10. Click on the Download Tool Now and follow the instructions. you don't need to enter a license key.

You still need to have a Windows license before performing the upgrade, which is why you're not asked to enter a license after the upgrade.
This here is supposed to apply to those without a Windows license.
