Edit: I own both the N30 and N40. Absolutely dislike the feel of plastics being used on these. They feel too thin and cheap for the price, especially at retail. My N40 left earbuds went out after ~7 months.

N40 is 20 ohms. N30 is 32 ohms. Other than that I'm not sure. Also I think they both have adjustable filters.

The msrp is inflated, there are no good comparisons of n30 to n40, they both use what looks like a balance armature in the "neck" of the earphone with a dynamic base driver behind it in the large part of the earphone enclosure.
n20u is also $27 right now, pretty crazy price

i have kz zs6 and kz zs3, zs3 is more comfy but it still is not nearly as comfy as my westones were (my westones break though :\)
N40
Sensitivity at voltage:115.00 dB/V SPL
Sensitivity at power:98.01 dB/mW SPL
N30
Sensitivity at voltage:116.00 dB/V SPL
Sensitivity at power:101.05 dB/mW SPL
so with 1 mw you are getting 101 vs 98.. lets remember that 3db difference is perceived as TWICE as loud! im going with the n30 because i dont want to carry around the amp for the n40
Noticeably better sounding?
