DoorDash Coupon for Food Pickup Orders at Participating Restaurants Expired

Restaurant owner here. All these doordash or any other delivery app promotions that you guys see are always at the restaurant owner's expense one way or the other, that's why it's participating restaurants only. Small restaurants like mine are getting charged non-negotiable 32% commission while larger restaurant chains are able to negotiate for a more favorable rate. This is why you see markups from some restaurants. As for my own restaurant, I don't like the idea of making my customers pay more, so we are basically selling you food at our cost or sometimes at a loss when you order through these apps. Unfortunately during this difficult time, we have no other choice but to continue using their service in order to keep our staffs employed. If you want to support your local restaurants, please try to order pick-up directly from them.

Oh yeah, Doordash charges restaurants additional marketing fees for promotions, we pay on average $3 - $6 per order depending on the promotion.

Sorry, some people are misunderstanding my original intent on the post, so let me clarify.
Few early posters asked who's picking up the tab of the $5 coupon, Doordash or the restaurants, and some also said the prices are higher on Doordash, so I explained how Doordash works based on my own experience with them as a restaurant owner in response to those comments.

Here are some more facts.

Before COVID19, if you order self pick-up thru Doordash, restaurants get charged 15% commission.

During COVID19, Doordash has waived the 15% commission for self pick-up orders, but they are still charging 32% for delivery orders. Now the issue is many restaurants mark up their prices on Doordash, therefore customers are actually paying more if they order thru Doordash.

With the current pandemic, most restaurants like mine are offering discounts to encourage phone-in orders for takeouts. You should call your favorite restaurants first to check their websites to see if they offer discounts.

Again, this is a very difficult time right now for your local restaurants, please support them the best you can.

I've never done DoorDash but from what I noticed everything is more expensive, even pickup. So if the place offers pickup already, wouldn't it most be cheaper just to do that?

Does anyone know who is picking up the $5 difference? Doordash or the restaurant? I know GrubHub was running something similar but made the restaurants eat the cost.
