For anyone needing a copy of the site before it was changed for chargeback purposes:

I got the following message after I filed an online complaint with froggy's:

"Chris from Froggy's fog giving you a call regarding your Sanitizer Product. Please feel free to call back direct at this number for the next 10 minutes or so. I will then join my family for an online the Easter Service for about an hour and a half.
the smell is completely normal because the sanitizer is made with 80% corn ethyl alcohol. The reason the FDA granted guidance for making hand sanitizer with this ingredient is because there is a national shortage of isopropyl alcohol and grain. The product is 100% safe to use and very effective. Unfortunately corn alcohol does have an odor. According to the FDA guidance we are not allowed to add fragrance or gel to the World Health Organization approved monograph. we have been told to anticipate grain alcohol being available again sometime late April, at which point we hope to go back and continue making hand sanitizer the old way with lower odor. as for now, we must follow and adhere fully to the FDA guidance for the manufacturer of WHO hand sanitizer. Feel free to call back with questions. Just because the government does not allow me to add fragrance to our sanitizers at this time,
does not mean you can't do it. A half ounce of your favorite essential oil will significantly help within 2 days."

He called me back and said he was part owner of the company. We talked for 15 minutes. The smell is from corn ethyl alcohol. He said it comes from Indiana and only contains corn ethyl alcohol and water per testing. I told him my main concern is if the product is safe and doesn't have any carcinogens, I was concerned to give it to my family members. He said it's safe and his wife, children, and mother use it. He also said police agencies and I think Disney world purchased his product. He was sincere and I didn't feel he was lying to me. I appreciated the call and think he's a stand up guy.

I added about 3 to 5 drops of USDA organic lemon oil (Purador 4 oz bottle on amz) per ounce. I plan to use the product.

Ethanol+water smells like plain vodka (stronger, because it's higher in alcohol content, but same smell). If your bottle of Froggy's does not smell like plain vodka, then you're being lied to and you should return your item.

Fermentation of alcohol can lead to a rotten egg/sewage smell so the smell could be naturally occurring. For example: "Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) is a powerful aroma compound largely produced by yeast during fermentation. Its occurrence in wines and other fermented beverages has been associated with off-odors described as rotten egg and/or sewage" : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20668912

Froggy's told me directly:

"The smell comes from the ethyl alcohol in the formula. It comes to us from the distillers smelling like that"

"The smell is likely due to natural odors that occur through the fermentation process. Fermentation has many different types of aromas that can occur based on the process used and length of fermentation."

"We are using Denitonium Benzoate as a bittering agent. This is a non-toxic chemical and is safe for your hands."

Just got mine in from when this went FP. Just a note that this is a liquid not a gel like Purell. It also leaves a weird smell and feeling on your hands. I'm sure it still does its job as a sanitizer though. In absence of anything better available its probably still worth it to fill up bottles to keep in the car or places where you don't have access to warm running water to wash your hands.

This is a liquid with the same consistency of water. The smell is so bad that it'll make you think twice about sanitizing. The smell does go away after the product dries.

I was about to post the exact same thing. Agree on everything.
I'll add that it shipped within a few days and seemed to be packaged well when it arrived. No issues.
I had bought some empty squeeze bottles to distribute among our employees, but that will be pretty messy since it is liquid, not gel. Spray bottles would be better.

Just received this from when it was first released. It shipped 3 days after my order and arrived 6 days after my order. Came in a sealed jug, wrapped in a plastic bag, in a cardboard box (good packaging).

It's a very thin liquid (no aloe/gel consistency at all) so you will need a pump or squirt bottle that has a good seal to make this portable.

It also has a pretty funky odor to it that might take some getting used to - not just alcohol smell but kind of burned earthy type scent.

Feels good on the hands though, leaving behind a soft feeling after it dries.

Well I got it too. Lots of it - we needed it for work. If you like the smell of moonshine you'll love it. It is thin, like water. But it dries up on your hands very quickly - 80% alcohol - no smell after dry, no sticky or greasy feel.
I actually like it better that a lot of stuff out there right now.

Do you have a link of which oil you used?

Careful when mixing. A 2:1 mixture would make it about 53% acohol and not effective as a sanitizer.

Edit to add: It already has glycerin as a moisturizer.
