Yes, but one does not simply "get" the story of Kingdom Hearts. Many have tried but most have failed.
Short, TLDR version - Yes

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 each combine 3 games:
1.5 = 1 and Re:Chain of Memories as HD versions of their games, and 358/2 Days as a video.

2.5 = 2 and Birth By Sleep as HD versions of their games, and Re:Coded as a video.

There's also 2.8 which includes an HD version of Dream Drop Distance and one additional prequel to Kingdom Hearts 3. (Which I think uses the same engine as 3, but I might be mistaken.)

They all bring something essential to the story, whether backgrounds for some characters or story developments. The story isn't entirely linear if you play in order of release, but that's arguably the best order to play them.

Pulled the trigger on this. This price is more in line with the PS4 version(s). Of note, this is a part of the weekly deals with gold.

I remember loving KH2 back on PS2 when it first came out, but I did not care for KH3. This makes me think my tastes may have changed and going back to KH2 wouldn't be as fun anymore.

Short answer: if you have a PS4, get the all-in-one package.

I still haven't played 3, but I know many people that love 2 to this day but couldn't stand 3. With 4 games and 15 years between the numbered sequels a lot of people simply find that the story went too off the rails, and that 3 lacks some of the charm that 2 had.

Oh my God, this is an even better deal. All 3 games for $30. I'm gonna have to get the PS4 version.

Thanks for the explanation, exactly what I came looking for.
Followup question, what does "Re:Coded as a video" mean?

As a part time gamer this series has been high on my list based on what my friends that are regular gamers have told me about it, so I'm pretty tempted to bite on both bundles at this price. (I only have an Xbox One X, no PS4, please don't judge my life decisions ;-) .
