It says, "... improved LTE service in your home or business by connecting to your provided internet service."

Do you have to hook this equipment up to your existing cable or dsl internet service? How does it work?

Our Voice / data is horrible in my home.
I tried and tried to get one these sent out. They kept giving me the run around. Then I talked to a tech in the U.S. and she explained that I could just turn on the Wi-Fi calling feature on my iPhone. I didn't know that Sprint let us do that, so fixed my problem. So for folks with Voice issues at home and have internet, you may not have to jump through the hoops of getting on or these boxes.

Yes. It works over the internet... Try Wi-Fi calling first

If you have home internet and you can connect your phone via wifi for data and use wifi calling as well, doesn't that make the femtocell obsolete?

Exactly. I am not sure if this is targeted to elderly or those who use feature phones that need a cellular signal and cannot use Wi-Fi calling. If it requires home internet, and most / all smartphones have Wi-Fi calling, femtocell is obsolete for most.

Yep. Pretty much. Not sure why they still make it, unless it's like he said and it is for the elderly. I had one many years ago before I switched to T-Mobile, who is the OG of wifi calling.

Is there a real difference? Or is the Airave just the older version?

I received the Airave 3.0. There is an Airave 4.0. Both support LTE. I believe the difference is the number of lines they support, but I am not sure.

I can see this being obsolete for many once the TMobile and Sprint merger is finalized.

The problem I have when I thought of getting this is that ANYONE that is within the bubble, and they say 5000 sq ft can access the pebble. If your neighbors are on sprint, then they can hop on this. My concern is that it's on my internet and I'm guessing that it's going to hit my data caps on the home internet. Their FAQ addresses who has access but doesn't mention your home internet use might go up and if they are streaming, your speed might go down.

Sprint's service in my area is horrible but I use WIFI calling which is acceptable.
But, I've heard that T-Mobile's network is much stronger than Sprint so I hope that clears up the data problems when I'm not at home.
