I've have this saw and it's great for a DIY'er. I built a 150sqft deck using it, and it performed great.
The biggest shortcoming is the on-axis motor which gets in the way for any smaller work, but correcting that issue usually involves a much higher end saw.

DEFINITELY get some kind of stand to go with it. Anyone who is trying to hold boards in place while using the saw on the floor doesn't realize how much better the tool is when integrated with a proper stand. I have the folding RIGID stand which goes on sale for $99 a couple of times per year and can't recommend it enough.

I got this when on sale for $129 over the summer. I also got a stand from DTO. They have certified pre-owned for $40 and factory blemished for $90.

Here is a link to a CPO stand.

I bought almost the same model a couple of years back (laser instead of LED) and I have a problem with the slide to blade alignment. I didn't discover it until I was out of warranty so it was too late. Basically the blade is not on plane with the sliding motion and cannot be adjusted. So you can either square the fence against the blade for chop cuts, or square it to the sliding motion. I have my fence now square to the slide, so even if I'm cutting 1x2s I have to use the sliding motion.

Once you receive it set it up and square the blade to the fence with the slide all the way in (as per chop cut), once everything is tightened up, pull the slide back and check the blade travel. If part of the blade separates or digs into the square then your blade is not parallel to the slide. There is no known adjustment for this that I have been able to find.

I own and like this saw. If it was daily use I'd go with a stronger brand. I bought it a couple years ago for 200 and felt like I got a steal.

Great for homeowner use. It was on sale for $129 last summer in the stores. Because it slides, it's replaced my Ridgid non sliding 10"

This is an excellent saw for DIYers or weekend warriors and this is a solid price for it. The only suggestion I would add is to replace the blade with a Diablo blade.

That stand will definitely get the job done. The beauty of the RIGID stand is that it folds up vertical with the saw still attached and rolls into a corner or against a wall. My 1 car garage is also my DIY workshop, my automotive workshop, the resting place for my favorite car, and our laundry room... so space is very much at a premium and nearly everything, including my work benches, table saw, storage cabinets, miter saw, etc is on wheels.

That is a nice feature! Yeah, the Ryobi stand is pretty basic when it comes to features, but for $40, it will get the job done for most.

Single bevel, right? Not super astute with these but need one to redo baseboard around the house and possibly build a booth into the nook.

Single bevel, but still tempting at this price. Maybe they have a double-bevel on sale for a good price. Smilie

Correct, single bevel. All the double bevels i've seen are quite a bit more. I have a Kobalt brand miter saw that's mostly identical. Should fit your needs just fine.

Lol. Got to love DTO. This stand was in stock last week and I purchased it along with some cheap junk items just because it's flat rate shipping. No communication or updates on my order until yesterday when they e-mail me saying they can't find any miter saw stands in their warehouse so they're removing that item and shipping my other $10 worth of junk and charging the full $7 shipping for it.

This!^^^ I have this saw and stand combo and absolutely love it. I used to be the guy who would use my (previous) miter saw on the ground with whatever scrap I could find to support the ends of the board I was cutting. It sucked.

Also, you don't have to fold up the stand to move it. Just pick up the non-wheeled end and you can roll it around wherever you need to relocate it to.

Try your luck. Their inventory does go in and out of stock frequently. Just makes me laugh that within 24 hours of the saying they couldn't find any---it's been reactivated on their site
