Walmart has announced a pre order deal for the new iPhone SE (2020). They are discounting the price of the phone by $200 for activated phones set up on an installation plan. The terms and conditions indicate that the deal is available for AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint phones, though I was only able to find the pre-order link for Verizon and AT&T phones. This is not a rebate, store credit, bill credit, or gift card offer. The price listed for the cheapest phone, normally $399.99, is $199.99 divided by the selected monthly term (ex. AT&T 30 month plan is $199.99/30 = $6.63/ mo.). All colors and storage capacities seem to be available for pre order but adjust the base price of the phone up where applicable.

iPhones from 2015 are still being supported by Apple for major platform updates. (The iPhone 6S is supported in iOS 13 and will be supported in iOS 14.) So, at least six years of updates (Fall 2015 - Summer 2021) assuming iOS 15 drops support for the iPhone 6S, which isn't a foregone conclusion. Versus Samsung's 2. Samsung is clearly the one forcing obsolescence, not Apple.
As an added bonus, this $399 phone is faster than the most expensive Samsung flagship.
Those aren't officially supported builds from the OEM. I run various ROMs on several of my Android devices, and while I love the flexibility (and ability to tinker with custom recoveries and firmware), I would never recommend running AOSP to a non-technical friend, or God forbid a family member.
