QA Edit: Seems the 50% off appliance part of this deal may have died but users as of today 5/1 still say they're getting the 50% off on open box TVs still. So we will let this thread stay in Hot Deals for another day or so, for users that still can get it.
------------------------

I was shopping around for a new washer/dryer, and picked out a pair by LG. Called in to the store to find out what might be damaged on the washer since you can't go in and see it. The Best Buy website lists the open box price as $695.99. They went over and looked at it, told me about the scuffs, and then mentioned "oh, and the open-box promotion brings it down to $347.99

I bought it, then called the other Best Buy that had the matching dryer, also as open-box. I asked them what was wrong with it, and about the price since "another Best Buy said you're running an open box promotion" and we all know that could be specific to one location or whatnot. The guy on the phone said the price I got the washer for was crazy, he'd never heard of such a thing. He went to explain that open box pricing changes all the time depending on the new item sale prices etc, but he'd ask his manager. He came back and said that there's an additional coupon he has to scan, for 50% off open box major appliances. The Geek Squad extended warranty price is based on the price you pay, not MSRP, so that also goes down in price should you be interested.

Pricing on the website does NOT reflect this promotion. You must call the store so they can scan the coupon, and pay over the phone. My order doesn't show any SKU for a coupon, just the super-low price.

I'm in San Diego too, can tips and tricks I can do to help me get this deal?
Look online for the items and find open box items you like. If they have multiple in stock, you're more likely to get a better condition item.

I called the store on the phone first then said I have a friend who works at Best Buy in a city an hour away (Temecula in my case and a friend does work there). I tell them about the employee, friends and family plan and ask if they have the item(s) I am looking for in stock, and the condition they're in.

I then go to the store and ask for the employee that I spoke with on the phone and they help complete the transaction.

It wasn't too hard and the people were nice in each store.

Good luck

Honestly. All I said was I had a friend who worked for best buy who told me about the promotion. They didn't need any more info.

Hello, how did you start the conversation regarding it? I tried Sharpstown and West Oak location with no luck. Should I buy it first then try to get them add code when picking it up?
Try the sugarland location both my brother and I lucked out on washer and dryers.

Thanks OP. Got a fridge. New was $1600; Open Box Satisfactory = $1344; after discount, $672 (before tax). Delivery to front door was free. This was in the Bay Area. So it is possible around here. I spent most of today calling various stores in my area. Most stores said you have to go in to buy it with an employee. But if you really want the deal, just search online to see inventory, then call all the stores that have it in stock. In case anyone is interested, I got it from a store in the Peninsula. I also found that at least 1 store was willing to give the discount (in person without employee) in the East Bay. Good Luck!

One of the slickest deals I've ever caught on here! I just got a 75" Vizio P Series Quantum with a 5 year Geek Squad warranty for $675 before tax, warranty, and mount. Out the door it was $1017, but still a pretty slick deal for a TV combo that would've been $2000 at retail. Nice find!

So did you have to go to the store to place the order and then setup the delivery there? Or did you do everything over the phone?

Thanks OP, picked up an open box 65" Sony 950G with 5 year warranty for $945 after tax. Federal Way WA store. Spoke to a manager in the Bellevue Store and said you don't need the email print out for the code, they said just purchase an open box item (appliance or TV) and it'll automatically add the 50% off. It's 50% off original/sale price not open box price, is what I was told.

Just bought a washer and dryer and a 65" tv, all 50% off the open box price from the South Austin store off 290. The appliance manager knew exactly the sale I was talking about and made it super easy.

You guys are buying open boxed items unseen? WOW. Especially appliances. Majority of the open box, returned appliances that my local BB used to have were nasty. The fridges were never cleaned and smelled like food. The washing machines had hair and dirt all over them. Dishwashers were never fully drained and smelt like moldy water. Good luck.

Yikes... I guess it's probably a good reminder to check with the salesperson helping you that what they're looking at (on your behalf) is a floor model that was never actually used or an actual open box return.

Did your local BB really put previously used and uncleaned appliances out on the floor for people to check out though!? That's pretty disgusting!
