QA Edit: Seems the 50% off appliance part of this deal may have died but users as of today 5/1 still say they're getting the 50% off on open box TVs still. So we will let this thread stay in Hot Deals for another day or so, for users that still can get it.
------------------------

I was shopping around for a new washer/dryer, and picked out a pair by LG. Called in to the store to find out what might be damaged on the washer since you can't go in and see it. The Best Buy website lists the open box price as $695.99. They went over and looked at it, told me about the scuffs, and then mentioned "oh, and the open-box promotion brings it down to $347.99

I bought it, then called the other Best Buy that had the matching dryer, also as open-box. I asked them what was wrong with it, and about the price since "another Best Buy said you're running an open box promotion" and we all know that could be specific to one location or whatnot. The guy on the phone said the price I got the washer for was crazy, he'd never heard of such a thing. He went to explain that open box pricing changes all the time depending on the new item sale prices etc, but he'd ask his manager. He came back and said that there's an additional coupon he has to scan, for 50% off open box major appliances. The Geek Squad extended warranty price is based on the price you pay, not MSRP, so that also goes down in price should you be interested.

Pricing on the website does NOT reflect this promotion. You must call the store so they can scan the coupon, and pay over the phone. My order doesn't show any SKU for a coupon, just the super-low price.

You guys are buying open boxed items unseen? WOW. Especially appliances. Majority of the open box, returned appliances that my local BB used to have were nasty. The fridges were never cleaned and smelled like food. The washing machines had hair and dirt all over them. Dishwashers were never fully drained and smelt like moldy water. Good luck.
I have never heard of a Best Buy putting out a used customer return fridge. Generally all the open box fridges on the floor are the display models that don't even get plugged in, or something where delivery was refused.

I was able to pickup a Sony XBR85X850G for $899 at the Flint, Michigan store. It was marked as a Satisfactory Open-Box, but it was brand new in the box. Thanks OP!

Yikes... I guess it's probably a good reminder to check with the salesperson helping you that what they're looking at (on your behalf) is a floor model that was never actually used or an actual open box return.

Did your local BB really put previously used and uncleaned appliances out on the floor for people to check out though!? That's pretty disgusting!
My local store manger said this sale was focused strictly on selling floor models because new models are in and customers can't go into the store to buy open box due to Covid. Who knows if a return or two gets slipped in though...

Anyone have a name of a BB employee that can be my friend? Wink I made a FB post looking for one as well. I tried my local store twice. Once before the promotion code and once after with no luck. I'm going to try a few other local stores tomorrow to see if I can score a dishwasher.

Just bought a washer and dryer and a 65" tv, all 50% off the open box price from the South Austin store off 290. The appliance manager knew exactly the sale I was talking about and made it super easy.
Haha, I spent an hour on the phone with appliance employee and manager at that south austin store - at the time, they didn't know about the discount. I happened to call back 1.5 hours later and turns out, they looked into it after I called (they called district manager) and were clued in about the discount. I also got a LG washer/dryer pair when I called back (they were holding them for me, in case I called back!).

Also bought a $2k Whirlpool built-in oven for $320 but need to pick this one up in San Antonio.

Once this covid madness is over I'll go to my local BB and take pictures of the return/open box section. They had floor models, a returned stove that had been used, a washing machine that also had been used.
