Partly, it depends on your use case. If you already have a bunch of 20 volt dewalt tools, it might be better for you. Generally, it's best to stick with one battery based brand, since you can buy the bare tools for cheaper.
However, the Ego tools are 56 volt, meaning that for most applications, they're much more powerful. A 5aH 20v battery has much less energy capacity than a 5aH 56v battery. 100 wH (watt hours) vs 280 wH.
So a direct comparison isn't valid. And there are a lot of people that do have Ego tools already, due to their higher power. I have a mower, chainsaw, and hedge trimmer from Ego. I also have a bunch of 18v Ryobi tools, including a string trimmer. The trimmer is OK, but I kind of wish I had gone with Ego for it. It's kind of wimpy on thicker weeds.
1. String trimmer attachment weighs a bit too much. There appears to be a carbon fiber version that is much lighter. I should of looked into that more.
2. Battery weighs a bit too much. On the other hand the charge lasts pretty long! I should of gone with 2.5h battery for my medium sized yard.On the other hand I am waiting for the backpack blower bare tool to go on sale, and I assume the 5 ah battery will be needed there.
3. This is not the automatic line feeder version. This one involves a bit of manual work. Doesn't look like much but I haven't tried it. But I do know there is a version that you just press a button and it does most of the work.
Finally, if you are new the edging, watch some videos on this edger. There is a guide on the edger that makes it easy. I did it without knowing that and my lines are all messed up

They do make you pay shipping and also list a possible restocking fee so that is a consideration.
