I am writing this from V35. Been using since an year and is still under warranty for one more year! An awesome phone for me. Brilliant performance with zero complaints. Oh but the slow updates is something you should be prepared for. A trade off for a phone that has all the flagship specs AND MORE at a fraction of the price.
Good phone. Speakers are quite bad though and the screen doesn't get that bright. Battery and RAM are definitely above average and speed doesn't leave you wanting. I could care less about having constant updates, fool's game.
For GSM though I think this is like average price. More value if it was Verizon version.

Thanks for your report. I think as the smartphones progress, the software side becomes more important than the hardware side. Slow updates is definitely a deal breaker for me. Is this phone on Android 9?

I agree. But they are releasing security updates regularly. Currently on March security patch. Yes its on Android 9. Don't know if there will be 10!
It doesn't matter as the android version has no effect on phone functionality. In fact with skins it's impossible to tell versions apart.
Noone in real life on receiving a new phone would ask about how fast it gets updates or what version of android it is, or know, or care. It is only a fake SD thing.
What? Android versions absolutely do impact functionality. Uh...sure if you skin things to look the exact same then its tough to tell them apart, not sure what your point there is? But that's one of the least important aspects of software updates.
I can agree with that to an extent. The issue is, that's a big problem. Security updates alone are a big deal. Just because people are ignorant of it or don't care doesn't mean its not important.
You're also looking at things in the wrong way. I care about this, even for devices I'm not using, because I invariably help people (family, friends, etc), and software updates can mean a lot.
As an owner of a v35 and Pixel 3a XL, I much prefer the pixel, even though the LG has a nicer screen, faster speed, and other features like ip68 and wireless charging. For me, the camera quality just isn't good enough when compared to the pixel, even with gcam.
Personally, at this price, I would get the open box OnePlus 6T with similar specs if sub-pixel camera performance is acceptable.
Fwiw, the unlocked LG v35 does get WiFi calling on Wing Wireless (AT&T MVNO), so I assume many at&t & other at&t mvnos might too.
