Geico tows to the nearest dealer. I own two Mitsubishi 3000GTs, which means that they will tow me hundreds of miles... haha.

Did anyone find a working link?
I have Geico as well and covered towing is to the nearest qualified repair facility, not the facility of your choosing.

I went into my Geico coverage and got a quote to add "Emergency Road Service", and my quotes over the 6-month policy period:
  • 2019 Truck: $1.89
  • 2019 Hatchback: $1.89
  • 2013 Sedan: $4.29
  • 2005 SUV: $5.89
You are right, it is lower than I remember, but not as cheap as yours.
I see $9.60 per vehicle, and it doesnt matter which car.

They must have changed it, I have been towed 50 miles home with Geico, because there are no Mitsubishi dealers near me.

Most cars come with roadside assistance from the manufacturer, and most insurers have roadside assistance available for a very minimal fee (under $10/six-months). So what's the purpose of AAA these days?
This is not advisable. Your auto insurance company might zing your for a claim if you use this service. This can then add much higher insurance premiums for several years. Also if you are a DIYer, you might not get that tow covered to your house if a qualified repair facility is closer.

I used AAA two times in the last year when I purchased a different vehicle. I had my car towed home and drove the newly purchased home. Those tows were 70 miles and 98 miles each. Also you can have any vehicle towed that you are a passenger in. So if you are riding with a friend that has trouble, you can tow that vehicle.

AAA also offers discounts that you won't get with your car insurance. I save about $10 on hotels many times per year. I also use AAA discount for renting cars for vacation. Many rental car companies charge you a surcharge for additional drivers. With AAA everyone on the AAA membership can drive.

Also with your auto policy, you typically have to pay the driver and submit a claim after the fact. I personally need less paperwork in my life. The chances of getting my wife to submit a claim for $100 is slim to none.

Roadside assistance premiums are cheap up-front, but you need to research what your insurer does with your rates after you use it and it hits your CLUE report.

biker who ride your motorcycle as well as a cage, consider ama which i think of as the aaa for motorcycles.

not sure if aaa covers bikes but ama will cover your car. you may not get an awesome discount but when your bike breaks down, you'll be happy when they send out a flatbed.

AAA covers motorcycles with an add-on endorsement. $40 additional and gives you 4 additional service calls for the motorcycle (or an RV, same category).

Assuming your tow truck driver is willing to drive that far. The one time I needed a tow and called AAA, driver showed up and refused to tow that far.

Next time call AAA and tell them. That driver will be fired real quick. The contracted company would rather lose that employee than their contract with AAA.
