TV Volume just messed up and was looking for a new TV after 11 years. Don't need anything special so this will be perfect for the price. I have a TCL LED from 4 years ago black friday still working great and love the picture. Thanks!

I've had three of the previous versions of these (55S405 vs this 55S425) for about two years now. Have been very happy, no regrets at all. Even bought another of same model but 49", later.

Only problem I've had off and on is the device disconnects from my wifi network sometimes (I have an Orbi mesh network, with more than enough coverage for my home size). Happens on all three of the 55" ones. It takes about 10 seconds to reconnect (do a "Check connection" from menu and it reconnects every time) so never been enough of an issue for me to really try to resolve, let alone return.

I had similar problem. Wifi started acting flakey. Ordered a hard wired adapter was great, now its going from Hard wired to wifi and asking for a re-connect. like you said take 30 secs nto a deal breaker. I do like my TCL tvs. ive replaced most of my main tvs with them.

I always see the series 4 going on sale. Just a heads up that the series 4 does not have HDR, and for a lot of people 4k and HDR go in tandem with one another to provide the best picture experience. Still a solid TV but just something to look into when buying into the 4k tv market.

I personally bought the TCL series 5 49" used from Walmart for $199.

good price, I did a lot of HDR tests years ago on it and it was noticeable but weak. Maybe they cut corners on the circuit boards, mine died after two years. Still loved it and it got heavy use.

From CNET HDR don't deliver a substantial improvement in image quality.

The Bottom Line Although the image quality is just "good enough," the S425 series is still an excellent choice for budget buyers focused on streaming and simplicity.

Consider spending the extra $130 for the TCL 6 Series at Costco. I wanted a cheap TV and after doing a lot of research, felt it was very worth spending the extra money for the 6 series instead.

If all TV's are doing this, it's more likely a router issue. Try updating the firmware if available. Also, try the fast start option in the tv's power menu.

I always try to hard wired when possible. The wifi chips on TVs are usually pretty weak on the whole. I was glad I invested in a good AC1900 router years ago, makes everything better. I just fired up one of those UHD movies and noticed the other tv down grade the signal. It was kinda neat to see the 4K movie bandwidth bump up on the TCL hardwired

hummm cant decide if I want to upgrade from my ONN 50" 4k. The ONN is a cheap $100 TV during thanksgivings. The black resolution is awful on this thing. I already have Chromecast so the Roku thing isn't a big jump for me.
