And that makes you a teacher by trade? Teachers dedicate their careers to teaching. I'm sure many would consider it demeaning for you to suggest you do the same thing they do just because you were inconvenienced for a couple of months with ad hoc schooling.

Last year sales weren't down 50% due to a global pandemic.

Most schools are botching this whole thing. My spouse is a teacher and is disgusted with the PR campaigns they are putting on pretending like all teachers are working hard. US test scores have gone from #1 in the world to below average in the developed world over the past 40 years, that really needs to be studied and fixed first.
I'm a software engineer. I've never taught in my life aside from classes I taught while I was in the Army. I just have an appreciation for people who dedicate their lives to helping others. School districts are a different beast, but they certainly don't take away from what teachers are as a concept.

Okay, let's provide universal health insurance, affordable quality childcare, and parenting support like other countries do. Or let's choose to only educate the kids who pass an entrance exam. Or let's pay our teachers so it's a more prestigious field people strive to go into, instead of a secondary income for most families.
I agree, there's a lot we need to fix about education! (Very little of which has anything to do with the teachers, most of whom work hard every day because they love our kids)

Such an ignorant point of view. I needn't say much though, because you're already going to be torn to metaphorical shreds.

Check the details of those "reports." The students in counties that rank at the top are "the best of the best." Most countries do not test all their students as many are put on a trade discipline paths and follow that education plan. The students left in the regular education system are actually the top performing students and test much, much higher which skews those "reports".
In Merica, we test EVERYONE regardless of their education path or special needs (IEP students). Everyone from apprenticeship tradesmen to dual-enrollment 4.0 gpa students are tested. So of course our scores look low compared to the rest of the world. The reliability of those "reports" are completely unreliable because they are not 1:1 comparisons.
