I was looking at the harbor freight over the weekend but found the extension to be a little jiggly. You won't have that problem with the Dewalt.
I thought the same thing, but then realized the rip capacity of that Dewalt is only 20 inches. So the better solution would probably be the ridgid with the stand and a 27" rip capacity for $279:

The Hercules table saw looks to lack Dewalt's fence adjustment knob. With the Dewalt fence, you can dial it in via the rack and pinion mechanism. But with the Harbor Freight Hercules table saw, you unlock the fence, move it, then lock it down.
From what I can tell, the Harbor Freight Hercules table saw also lacks the flip-down function of the fence.

To me... if you catch the major players on sale the prices are not bad and are not much higher than Hercules tools. I haven't had much luck with power tools from harbor freight as well but perhaps that's just me. Not bashing their stuff, just pointing that out. Now that said... I bought my tile saw from HF and it has been fine but only using for personal use. At the time I needed it, that was the best option as I wasn't finding sales on tile saws.

I was struggling with that too. But I realized that I'm never going to be ripping full sheets at home. Anything too big to fit in my old Ford Escape will still get cut down where I purchase it from.
I decided the most accurate fence was the most important thing for me. And that the Dewalt wins hands-down.
There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to make long cuts with a circular saw and a homemade guide. Watching a few of those got rid of my concern about the smaller capacity of the dewalt.
Chris Salomone makes an interesting observation in one of his videos, that the smaller saws (ie circular and track) are often best for the largest wood pieces, and the larger saws (ie table saws) are often better at working with smaller wood pieces.
There is definitely a lot to like about the Hercules. I had been seriously considering it for some time. It comes with a very good blade, better than most or all of the competition. That has to be factored into the price equation. However for my needs, which are going to be furniture type projects, I felt the DW745 at $279 would be better. It's still in the box because it just arrived. I'll come back and update if I change my mind after using it some.

I have the Hercules Miter saw and its awesome but I chose the dewalt 745 that went on sale for 220 a couple months ago over it. Mostly because the HF manager near me is a Richard.

That's good. Like I stated, wasn't trying to down it. Just hard to see how the Hercules brand competes with the like of Ridgid/Dewalt prices are pretty good on sale. Example: I'm not going to buy a Hercules impact for $70 when the Dewalt one is $99, now if the Dewalt one was $170 then that might change. If I made my living with my tools, I would only buy the major player... period.

When I started working with wood as a hobby, the first saw I bought was that thinking... meaning it had the capacity for a 27" cut. Well after cutting full sheets of ply on that saw... realized that wasn't the best way to do this. I started then to use straight-edge guides to break down the material, which for me is much safer. Now if I had space and money for a cabinet saw with full-size feed tables then I would change my mind.
In my opinion, you have the right thought process here.

I don't have experience with their other tools, but I was convinced about Hercules brand power saws when the cedar factory near me told me they used their miter saw heavily every day for 2 years. They also said they liked it so much that they bought another one after they accidentally dropped the first one.
The biggest factor for my decision purchasing this after features, was being able to take this saw back immediately if there were any issues. Yes you do have to purchase a warranty on it for $50, which makes it about the same price as the big players on sale. But has anyone trying to actually use the DeWalt warranty? They have about the worst customer service in the business. I took this out of the box, set it down wrong and broke off the lock handle immediately, like a doofus. after not being able to get ahold of the parts department, the store gave me a brand new saw no questions asked. Try fighting with DeWalt for a couple weeks and then waiting a couple more weeks to (possibly) get a replacement shipped.

That's exactly how I see it. I have no experience with Hercules, and I keep looking at their stuff and it's probably fine (heck, I still use my older Chicago miter saw from HF), but I'm pretty sure I can trust Dewalt, Rigid, etc., for only a little more.
