Announced on the Ubisoft investor call this morning.

The Discovery Tours were previously available as free DLC to owners of the games, or as standalone experiences for $20 each. The standalone versions are now free to own if you grab them over the next week. You do NOT need to own either of the original games to play the standalone Discovery Tours.

Both of these tours feature the characters and environments from the games they use as a base, but the combat and story campaign has been removed. Instead you are free to roam and interact with NPCs. There are also predefined museum exhibits which detail historical items, people, and culture.

  • Choose from 25 playable characters as players free roam throughout Ancient Egypt.

Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece (Odyssey)

  • DELVE INTO AN IMMENSE WORLD - Travel throughout 29 regions and uncover hundreds of stations with tours on 5 different themes: philosophy, famous cities, daily life, war and myths to learn more about history of Ancient Greece.
  • MEET LEGENDARY TOUR GUIDES – Embark on guided tours led by charismatic historical or fictional characters of Ancient Greece, such as Leonidas, Herodotos, and more.
  • DISCOVER THE BEAUTY OF ANCIENT GREECE – Highly realized and dynamic cameras display the intrinsic details of this world even further.
  • PERSONALIZE YOUR EXPERIENCE – Discover and test your knowledge to unlock 35 unique avatars and 15 mounts to free-roam the entire map.

keep in mind these are not AssCreed: Origins or Odyssey, but 'edutainment' titles using those games' engines. they really should remove the original title and just call these "Discovery Tour: Ptolemaic Egypt" and "Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece"
These are pretty cool. I did the one for Origins after I finished the game and it was a interesting way to learn about the Era. It was also impressive how much effort they put into making the setting at least somewhat historically accurate.
It would be awesome if this was available for VR.

I get to a screen that says "Click OK to attach the game to your Ubisoft competition. You will be able to access it in your list of games from any computer." but the OK button doesn't seem to work. Anyone else get past this point?

You can use the UPlay app on Windows instead; the web site has the problem you mention.

Thank you, I was having a hard time figuring out exactly what this offer was, and it seems their FAQ page is broken and so is the Youtube launch video.

That's actually really cool that they offer this for free. It's good PR and publicity for their game engines sure, but legit those game worlds are beautiful, and I'm glad people can access for free, if their computers can run it lol.
