Samsung has a deal on two SmartThings WiFi Smart Plugs (hub not required, these are WiFi and not Z-Wave/Zigbee):
https://www.samsung.com/us/smart-...u019bbawu/
Add two to cart for $23.99 ($12 off). Free shipping (estimated by end of May for me).
They also have $20 off Cam and $10 off Hub, which brings their prices to match Amazon.

Agree. Random WiFi devices on your network not good. Samsung does not have a good record when it comes to IoT security. (albeit, better than some random/generic devices that are imported from Asia)
Samsung zwave/zigbee like door, water motion sensors are working fine for me. I cant say the same with samsung appliances that uses wifi. Like smart washer and dryer. There are the worst
My smart app controlled Whirlpool washer and dryer are horrible as well.
Wish these were zwave or zigbee on the plugs. I have a few centralite ones that work great, but have to use the bottom plug due to their size. These are more compact and would give me a few more options.

Fans, chargers (so you're not trickle charging things forever), i have some on some laser lights set to run on a "party mode" routine. Super useful for christmas lights and other decorations.
could have them on routers for forced resets every now and then.
rëwsNot sure it would make sense for av equipment to prevent phantom draw since i'm sure the plug uses a measurable amount to stay online.
uhhh.. that's about it. i have like 5 or 6 of the old big fat wemo wifi switches, and a few others i've bought b/c oh hey look how cheap i'm sure i'll find a use for this..
I havent switched to the new smartthings app but i heard there are no more device history. Not sure coz my smartthing classic app still better than the new one.
I think all wifi devices are also not compatible with the old smartthings classic app. I think there is a trick to make it work by using both apps
Good catch. Calling these SmartThings and not simply WIFI is deceptive.
I'm assuming that these will not act as a repeater for other ST devices?
