Might be worth dusting it off and upgrading to the newest software?

Mine get plenty loud, but I never go above 45% volume (i live in an apartment building - don't want to bug the neighbors).
I use homekit for the lights and a few things. Works fine.
Homepod recognizes different voices now (iOS 13 I think?)

Imo homepods are way better than alexa and google for music.
It is way smaller than the max and has a much better sound profile
All the rumors say a new one is coming soon at a lower price point, but it's anyone's guess as to when. At $199 it's a great deal.

Any idea on the speculated release date?

Potentially at WWDC from what I've read but nothing specific has come out. https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/a...2-3673666/

Day 1 HomePod buyer and its useless.
Sure it sounds good for music, but cant throw a party with it as its not loud enough.
HomeKit is useless. Not many items use homeKit and the ones that do are crazy expensive.
HeySiri stinks. Picks up on a ton of commercials and when I use my iPhone to set a reminder (because HomePod wont differentiate between different peoples voices) the HomePod picks up on HeySiri instead of my iPhone.

I have Apple everything (multiple TV's, iPad's, iPhone's, MacBook, etc (you get the point) but for my smartphone I use Alexa. Its just easier and more universally accepted.

Currently my HomePod is in my office and not even plugged into a power source.

Google home Max wants a word.

Also, I find Siri to be the least featureful out of the three. We have mostly Apple things in our home, but smart speakers by Google.

You can get homebridge which allows to add damn near anything to homekit making it awesome.

Otherwise , i agree with all your points.

Yes, a smaller one. It won't have the same sound quality as this one.

Rumors also state a smaller one is coming. As stated above, probably at WWDC in June.

Do you.. want to sell me it? I've been setting up my home to be a little smarter (installing smart switches and linking my Nest thermostats using homebridge.) I can ask siri to turn on all of my light switches, fans, change my temperatures, and schedule exterior lights to turn on.

There are plenty of things I'd like it to do that it can't but I could really use two homepods. Have been holding out for the updated release.

If only it had bluetooth support this would have been so good. The sound quality is amazing on this thing but the features are not.
