Seems overpriced for a 5 year old game.

True, but there is nothing else like it on the Switch, like a Zelda for adults. I am playing it for the first time ever on Switch and really amazed by it, so glad they ported it to Switch.

Edit: what I meant is that Witcher is adult only, not that Zelda is only for kids. Sunk many hours into Botw myself. :-)

I have been wanting to play this since I saw the series. Still a bit pricey for me and I can wait it out until black Friday to see if it goes in sale

Yeah, but you can't compare PC and console prices, especially not switch. Also you can probably resell the game card for around $40 after you are done with it, Switch game prices are pretty stable, so difference is not as large as it seems.

To a degree, definitely. As someone that loves this game and this franchise it pains me so many people are playing it for the first time on Switch. As an extension of 'the real' Witcher 3 on PC (or a 4K capable console if you must) it's a perfectly great game and still worth it. But if someone has never played it and their first experience is on Switch and they have to pay $45+ as well? It just seems wrong.

It is very overpriced. Ps4 it has been around 5 bucks. If it was exclusive sure but not this

It seems wrong because of how much it sells for on PC. It's digital first of all, so there is no cost of manufacturing the cartridge card. The devs worked on porting the game on the Switch and contracting out certain programmers to do it. So selling it for less than $20 would mean they lose money and wouldn't be worth it. So the decision to that would be, not bring it to the Switch at all. Now, obviously they did market research and the game is selling for many different reasons. People who already finished this have no incentive or motive to buy it again. But there are people who only game on console (specifically, Nintendo gamers) that want this game. Plus there are those gamers who can't get away from watching/taking care of their family. Having this portable on the Switch so you can squeeze 15 minutes of game time to sit back on a chair while attending to a baby is gold. You don't necessarily sit back when playing this on pc and you can't get the sleep function and be able to jump back into the game instantly without waiting for the game to load for minutes while you're sitting on the toilet. They've provided a courtesy to even make it cross-save. Now you can play the Switch version and play it at home on the PC too. I plan on picking up the Switch version when it goes on sale low enough (this deal isn't low enough). The PC version will be my main while I can do mundane things in town with the Switch version.

We own a switch for a couple years now and my kids love it, but I still don't understand why all games on this console is so much more expensive than other platforms. In fact I got in on that deal with Witcher 3, also the free Lego Ninjago games on the side (which my kids are now in love). Sure it's a little less kids friendly on the setup, but is the switch worth that mark up? Maybe, maybe not. We have put in so much money on the switch so far, controllers, games, accessories.

Well, you still primarily get the Switch for the Nintendo exclusives, no other console can compete with these when it comes to younger kids. But being able to also play AAA games like Witcher 3 is a great bonus.

Also no other console of course allows you to play games on the go like the switch. We take it with us on the plane, on vacation, long car rides, etc. Try that with an Xbox.
