This is obviously still quite expensive for a nearly 3 year old camera, but it's still a great camera, and deals on current-model Leica cameras don't come around that often, so I figured it was worth posting!
Red dots make your photos instantly better. It's like having Ansel Adams, Annie Leibovitz, and Henri Cartier-Bresson in the palm of your hand.
Thnx, so this small point and shot looking camera is way better than those $2k+ huge dslr???
If yes, why professional photographers use them but not these?
you buying Lecia for the badge and heritage, you don't buy it for the performance.
and there are a lot of people care more about badges than anything else. so this is a great deal.

23mm f/2 lens instead

The 18mm f/2.8 is not an earth shattering lens, especially for the price.
For most of the "premium models" - much of the manufacturing is happening in low volume, in the country of origin, using skilled and typically unionized (ontop of respected) "labor".
This, for most advanced countries, means very well-paid technicians, expensive tools etc. This Leica is made in Germany. Hasselblads are made in Sweden. Ofc materials are often sourced from all-over, but it is hard to manufacture something as advanced as a digital camera 100% locally.
The difference is keen to buying a Rolls Royce vs. buying the BMW the former shares a platform with. If you are after paper performance, the mass-produced Beemer will not be 1/4th~1/5th that of th RR, it might as well be better. But RRs are still sold and appreciated. So are Leicas and "Hassi"-s. Canon/Sony/Nikon etc out-sell them 1000 to one and whatnot, but they manage to survive - mainly by charging this kind of $.
