Seems to be a fair amount of strong subjective opinion inserted into what is available to preview on the "History" book. Was hoping for a more non-fiction approach to the summaries.
Could you please elaborate further? This reads like pretty standard fare for the publisher (DK) so you could generalize this as being as subjective as the typical grade school textbook in the United States. That's not exactly high-praise or a defense, but in a quick skim I didn't see anything painfully out of bounds of that standard (even if that's not the highest standard to employ).

Good luck!

I read reviews of two books (Psychology and (religion or science) and it seems the kindle editions are bad.

There are 24 of them that I am aware of (if you include Star Trek, though they call it 'big ideas boldly explained'). Don't go by the series list on Amazon. They've screwed it up (2 books on their list are not part of series, with one showing the actual big ideas simply explained cover).

Been slowly collecting these whenever they go on sale. I know I won't read all of them. But now completing set just for the sake of it. Have 16 now. 8 to go - Bible, Business, Movie, Mythology, Feminism, Art, Physics and Star Trek.

The file sizes on the Kindle editions are huge. I do not think you want your fire tablet trying to open a 260 MB book. I have the HD10, one of the snappier Fires, and it is still pretty slow.

These books usually have lots of illustrations which are a pain to view on a regular Kindle. $1.99 is a fair price though.

I have the history book and in my opinion, it is excellent. (I converted the .epub to .pdf to read on my computer.)

I tend to read books for the words not pictures.

If you need the pictures, there are books with golden spines that might work better for you.

Don't be condescending and silly. Different books have different needs. A novel obviously doesn't require illustrations; however, most science and textbooks feature many, and usefully so. A book on anatomy or art history, for example, would be very challenging without illustrations or photographs, respectively. The science and history volumes, at the least, would be expected to have a decent number of images included.
