Great Value Basmati Rice, 20 lb [walmart.com]

Saw the Royal Basmati Rice is OOS.
Found this which is on-par as far as price related to the recent Royal Basmati deal...cannot speak on the taste and quality as i have never tried myself...YMMV

also a good filler to get to $35 free shipping, if you are looking for Basmati Rice as well

Not saying this is a bad deal but you can get regular white rice, whatever that means, in a 20 lb bag at Wally World for $8.86
I haven't had Great Value branded basmati rice before. BUT, "regular" white rice aren't as good as "basmati" rice. There are many rice varieties out there, some 2x-3x times more expensive than the cheaper ones. And that's for a reason. Different rice cook differently. Taste, smell, texture etc. Different rice for different purpose/dish/cuisine.

The difference between regular white rice and basmati rice is incredible.

I feel that. I save my grain snobbery for beer instead

Agreed! Once you drink some good micro beer, it's tough to drink macro brews. For rice, regular white can get starchy and clumpy. Jasmine or basmati!

There is a whole world of rice variety and quality out there. Typical cheap short or long grain enriched white rice is not even on the same level as the cheapest basmati or jasmine flavor and texture-wise. It's worth spending the extra few bucks on.

I can't say I've ever had the Great Value brand basmati before but $1/lb for basmati is a very good price. You might find a similar deal on other brands of basmati at Asian grocery stores and markets, but it's rare.

I like Jasmine rice the most, but yeah, there's so many varieties to rice, just like water, there is a taste difference.

This rice is great, actually bought some basmati from "IndianTreat" and it really pales in comparison.

Walmart sells Nashiki rice...light years ahead of Jasmine in taste. Basmati is a different rice and also tastes light years ahead on Uncle Bens rice
