I went with the 3300x and a msi B450 Tomahawk for about $246 total. Another $60 for 3200 mhz ram and I'm looking at a new computer for about $306. Of course I already have the psu, gpu, case, drives, etc

you should go for 3600...its 65w at 90% perf of 3600x. 3600x will generate more heat, more watts...i would rather get the 3700x vs 3600x for lower thermals and watts and higher perf

Hi, thanks for your feedback. So you think that for a budget build, AMD 3600 is more than sufficient. And then I can squeze more budget for the memory?

Yep, even though 3900x is dirt cheap on MC right now, you need a very good board to handle 105w CPUs including 3900x, 3600x, the low end boards get overheated with cheap VRMs specially as soon as you start OCing just even a tiny bit

Can someone suggest me on the memory: shall I go for a lower performance AMD CPU such as the 3600 and go for higher performance memory, say 4000 memory; OR go for the 3700X and go for the lower performance 3200 or 3600MHz memory?

Memory stat's and timing's aren't like they use to be. i would just buy what ever is cheap and be happy with it. unless your chasing benchmark stats, is shouldn't matter as much.

That's not been my experience. Ryzen processor can be unstable with improperly paired RAM. I had nothing but trouble with G-skill Aegis. Things would be fine for a few days and then BSOD every few hours. I eventually sold the G-sklll sticks on ebay and went with Corsair Vengeance AMD specific sticks. I have not had a BSOD yet.

Do your research. Check QVL for your mobo. Prior to buying search the internet for compatibility issues.

Shouldn't this be posted in deal discussion or tech support instead of hot deals?

3) Memory: I need your feedback
you are going to get wide ranging opinion on memory.
there is no wrong answer.
simple pick would be 3400 - 3600 if you don't plan on mess with timing voltage etc.
3200 and lower will work just as good, if you can get latency down.

if you are like me, a plug and play type of a guy. 3400 - 3600 would be best with 3600 series, especially for gaming.

You should definitely go with the 3600 instead of the 3600x, it is a better value, and it gets very comparable performance to an overclocked 3600, and third-gen ryzen processors perform better with faster memory, 3200 or 3600 speed should be fine.

I order the same setup a couple of days ago. My board just shipped from best buy today.

The ram I chose to get was based on recommended ram from Asus mobi website:

G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GTZR
