I recently did some homework on these and Wirecutter found in live burn tests that the Sentry brand does not hold up. "We've had too many problems with safes from SentrySafe over the years we've been working on this guide to be able to recommend any of its products." More here: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews...-safe/amp/
Also make doubly sure you can fit your docs. We bought one that looked just right...except the internal size was 1" shorter than regular office size . WHY? WHY?

"fire-resistant" also means the case may survive the fire, but that doesn't mean the items inside will. The heat will still get through and burn up anything flammable inside.
Can some please tell me --- what happens if you don't have a way to open it anymore?
(lose the key to fire, forget the unlock code by amnesia or accident, etc..)
How would you recover your original documents and other valuables?

So basically you will be ok as long as your valuables are not what's inside, but the safe itself? Mind-bending product I must say.

I'm sure there are ways to open it...i mean a power tool could probably open this thing pretty easily

My father-in-law bought this safe. Junk. The first one we unboxed had been dropped and was broken open, so I had to return it for another. The quality is not good.
So if you lose your keys for this particular safe, just pick it up and drop it a couple times and you should be able to get your stuff out.

And so now the question is :
If there is a way to open the safe without its normal unlock method,
then what good is a safe?
Sounds like a catch-22 to me.
Because more than anything, a safe actually draws the attention of a burglar who wouldn't otherwise know where the valuables are kept.
It's like giving a message to the thief ---> "Hey thief, I'll save you time and make it quick and easy for you to find my valuables. Here you go, it's all in this one box over here!!"

Edit: probably extremely easy to pick these locks, so probably doesn't matter.
