but even for sm1 who paid $65 wasnt too happy as BT DC'ed on them

"Messed up sound, disconnects BT & sounds horrible ,
I have used them in the past but unfortunately it didn't work"

That's just one review which isn't worth considering especially when it has zero concrete details to support it.

Larger sample size is worth considering

You'll need a harness if you're going from stock to aftermarket. The job can be done on your own and is not difficult at all. I think best buy used to do free installation (they charge for harness too) not sure if they still are.
