Difference between this and the trial is the trial only goes up to level 35 in story, has restrictions on in game features (Messaging, Guilds, etc), but it is free of a subscription. Standard Edition contains the full base game (level 50) and has no restrictions on in-game functions, but requires a subscription to play past the 30 days included.
The only time this is ever free is when they give out codes at events I believe. Standard Edition only contains content from ARR, the base game. Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers expansions are separate and have been as low as $30 together

That was years ago. They pretty much shut the old one down and created a new game, but kept the name.

Yes, unlike all other MMOs, Sony bows to Square Enix because they don't want to lose a lot of exclusivity of their games and allow multiplatform between PC and PS4. When I played for two years, we had people on PC and PS4 playing together and when my PC died, I was able to continue raiding on my PS4 while waiting on parts.
Great game BTW, the first expansion killed the Bard class for me so I quit. Sounds like they fixed a lot of those issues now but I've already had my fill of the game.

Yep, it's possible. You'll have to link your PSN account to your square enix account. Then I think you just have to add the ps copy on mogstation
