I bought this on Black Friday and it's been a great laptop. Exceedingly fast and plenty of ports. The optane memory serves as a cache between SSD and memory. Opening office apps like Word takes ~1sec. HP sells a pen if you do handwritten notes or drawing.

This is $200 off regular and just $50 more than BF. Perfect graduation gift for the techy grad. Comparable Surface Pro Laptop or Mac would cost a lot more. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the fingerprint reader which isn't at all reliable.

How is the battery life? Also some reviews mention loud fan noise. Is it that bad? Thanks!

Can the ram be upgraded in this thing or is it soldered? Seems like a great deal.

I have this laptop. I'm not super happy with the battery life but it's fine. It'll last me about 4 hours if I'm on zoom the entire time. The majority of the day if I'm not doing something intensive.
Fan is totally silent for me. Doesn't bother me at all but can run a little warm. Not a huge deal
My only critique is the build quality. If you choose this - which I'm fine with my choice in it - invest in a good case

My only critique is the build quality. I feel nervous bringing this in my backpack and worry the screen (being touch) will start to fade as I have noticed is has a bit. If you choose this - which I'm fine with my choice in it - invest in a good case

I am eyeballing this one with a Ryzen 7 4700U. Have you seen the AMD benchmarks?

Screen fade? That seems odd unless it's OLED. Can you expand on that issue?

That's done with the graphics card's RAM and the GPU these days. It's been several years since bus RAM was used for that.

Why would the screen fade because it's a touch screen? The touch functionality is provided by a digitizer layer that is in front of the actual screen, a completely separate component.

Are you sure you have this exact laptop? It kind of sounds like you're describing a different laptop because I have this exact laptop and it's been amazing for me. Totally silent, great battery and excellent build quality. I was specifically looking for a 1080p resolution two-in-one due to a very small increase in performance with a large hit to battery life. For me I would rather have a good display that's 1080p and get better battery life than something that I can barely tell the difference on a 15-in screen with a noticeable hit to battery life. So far, I've been super happy with this laptop in that regard. In fact, my first time taking it on a trip I thought it would charge off of my Type-C phone charger but it turns out it did not. I learned the hard way that you need a higher powered Type-C power source to charge which is typical for something as power hungry as a laptop. I thought I was going to be in trouble so I limited my usage to things that I absolutely couldn't do on my phone and much to my surprise I had tons of battery life left at the end of a week-long trip. I could have used it much more than I did and it probably would have been fine. I was quite surprised as to how well the battery life actually was on this laptop and it has surpassed my expectations of a two-in-one with as good of processor and as much RAM as it has. Did you maybe get a 4K version or something? If not, it sounds to me like you got a lemon. I would definitely look into some sort of warranty exchange on it or at least the battery pack.

Ryzen 4700u is a beast compared to this i7-1065G7. Also it runs way cooler because 7nm architecture is more efficient. The embedded graphic card for 4700u is a proper one that you can even play 3D games with. There's a reason all these Intel based CPUs are on good sales because when those Ryzen 4000s become more available, no informed buyer would buy Intel.
