The arguing on this thread is odd. If you don't need the speeds and features that this drive provides, then it's not a good deal for you. You can put together an external SSD solution with about half the speed for about half this price, or just get an external hard drive for 1/4 this price. If you're just backing up documents occasionally and in no rush, then a $50 hard drive makes more sense. In fact, most systems out there don't even have a USB port fast enough to take advantage of the speeds this SSD provides.

If you're editing large video projects, running applications off of the drive, or just regularly transferring very large files between systems, then having a drive at double the typical speed of an external SSD is important, and this is a great deal for that product. It's only a few dollars more than the cheapest comparable DIY option that will not have the same performance (remember, SSD performance isn't just the max sequential transfer rate). And if the biometric security is useful, then there's no comparison.

So whether or not it's a product that you need, it's a very good deal for the product
He won't show you one because the there isn't one. A lot of keyboard warriors just type nonsense without doing any kind of research.

Been keeping an eye on these since released. Almost bought when it dropped to 220. Glad I waited!

If you already don't have a samsung t5 drive then I highly recommend this. It is perfect for photo and video editing. I own several but I have learned I'm better off with 2TB drives for my workflow

Cool. I was waiting for this to go on sale for a long time now, and finally pulled the trigger on 2TB today. Having their Payboo card also helped with no tax. So couldn't resist.

is this hardware level encryption or software? meaning will I be able to use this on any device (ie: tv, raspberry pi, router, etc.) with my fingerprint, or will it require software to run on the host operating system to decrypt it using my fingerprint as the private key?

just a heads up for Amazon Prime card holders , this item is eligible for 15% back off the $199.99 price. 15% back is $29.95 which is twice that of the $15 off coupon through b&h. I am so glad I checked Amazon prior to ordering through b&h.

It requires software to setup but can be used on anything with your fingerprint after initial setup.
