I hate that carrageenan is used in most of Blue Buffalo's wet cat food. For those unaware, carrageenan (a known carcinogen) is a thickening agent that's also common in human food.

*a possible, but unproven carcinogen

But, yes, it would be nice if they didn't include it. It's one of the reasons we went away from Blue Buffalo.

Used to buy Wellness for my cats but man prices have skyrocketed now. Anyone see any good deals on quality wet food?

Costco had a really high quality wet food that was about $30 for like 48 cans if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, right after I discovered it, it was discontinued.

We now buy PetSmart's Nulo medal series Limited Ingredient Diet canned food. It's not cheap (something like $1.60/can when you buy more than 6), but it's highly rated and doesn't have any of the fillers or allergens. Highly rated on catfooddb.

folks, they have a 100% refund policy. any return we've ever had at chewy did not even require return of the product. why all the discussion...yikes just TRY IT! what is there to lose? or get the same flavor at petco for the same price with their 35% off repeat ship promo. same 100% refund policy. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/pet...t-cat-food

This make pretty good sandwiches when fried up but it's a deal breaker for me cause I just buy great value catfood. It's way cheaper.

My vet once told me that any food that you can find in places that sells just about everything like Walmart(the example used when I was told) generally have lower quality pet food. I guess Costco would technically fall into that category and it wouldn't surprise me since their main focus is definitely not pet food.

Blanket statements are often wrong. Amazon would also fall into that category, yet they sell most of the highest quality foods.

Besides, the food they sold was very highly rated by catfood db, which is why I sought it out in the first place. The ingredients alone made it obvious that it was of high quality. I'm sure it was a loss leader for Costco and that may be why it was discontinued.

I was just there yesterday actually. Saw the lowest brands such as 9lives, Friskies, and the highest brand I saw was Fancy Feast which is actually a lower end brand as well. People only fight for those brands being high quality is because they aren't willing to spend a little more on their "pets" which should be considered a companion/family. It's one thing if they can't afford, another if they try to justify themselves cheaping out.

However if you can find high quality ingredients for lower price then by all means keep doing that. Meanwhile price is a good estimate of the quality of food usually, there are plenty of deals for mid-high end cat food for a good price.

As I said, the food I'm talking about was discontinued, so I've moved on to other more expensive quality foods. I would never consider buying the other foods you've mentioned, and I'm not sure I see your point in mentioning them.

I also don't know why you're attempting to argue with me over a food you don't even know the name of. But, for informational purposes, here is the link to its catfooddb rating:
