Just a warning (as we have one), the KA Professional series 600 mixers are loud. I have had to pull the entire gear housing apart and repack the grease to try to quiet it down (not fun as it takes a special food safe grease). This helped a little, but my wife still prefers her old mixer (a smaller KA - Artisan).

Some people hate this design of the bowl being lifted up as opposed to the original design that let you tilt the top back easily.

I got this another time when there was a similar price on a refurbished pro 600– mine has worked amazingly. Highly recommend, a pretty unbeatable price for a top of the line mixer.

I have the 4.5Q Classic (tilt) and the professional 5HD (lift) models.
I can clearly hear the 5 HD is super noisy than the classic one. I can understand this one would be louder as well.

However, luckly the 5 and 6 series uses metal gears rather than the plastic ones which should last long time right?

Bought the KitchenAid KP26M1XPM 6 Qt. Professional 600 Series Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer - Pearl Metallic... In 2006. Still going strong. This is a very well made mixer.

Don't know if the current model in this deal is similar, I know they change manufacturing processes over time.
